spine bumped with one tiny chip at base, several ?staple marks lower cover, illustrated by F Walter Taylor, good. pasted to the front endpaper is an envelope (in the author's hand) addressed to 'Campbell A Stuart Esq/ Canada Ford Company/ 485 St James St/ Montreal/ Canada' containing a manuscript letter signed from the author (Margaret Deland) and dated Dec 23rd 1911: 'My dear Mr Stuart./ Thank you very/ much for your friendly/ letter about The Iron Woman./ It is a great satisfaction/ to one to know that the/ book has found friends,/ and it is an especial/ pleasure to have you/ say that you are one/ of them. I wish I could/ say this, face to face, in/ Woodstock, for which chilly/ spot Mr Deland and I/ are departing, the day after/ Christmas. Don't you think/ it would be a good thing/ for Canada Ford Company,/ if you should go away for/ the refreshment of a/ week's coasting at Woodstock./ I am sure it would be good for business!
